Smoke Detector Maintenance

As we head into the holiday season and work on buttoning our homes up as we brace for the cold weather, please take the time to check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.  Spending a few minutes each month is important, especially around this time of year. This quick safety check will not only save lives but also your home.  If you have plug in detectors, hit the test button to ensure the signal is loud and clear.  In the case of battery operated detectors, change the batteries for fresh ones every year. As an added safety measure,  go to the National Fire Prevention Association and download the smoke detector checklist to make sure you are covered.  Here is the link: http://www.nfpa.org/education
