Be Careful With Portable Heaters

During the cold winter months we are at the greatest risk of house fires caused by free standing heating units. Always place a free standing heating unit at least three feet away from any flammable materials and never leave it on when you aren’t home or as you sleep during the night. If there is noticeable damage to the plug or wiring, do not use the unit. Damage to any part of the unit can spark an unexpected fire. For more information on safely heating your home during the winter months, visit the National Fire Prevention website at National Fire Prevention Association - Heating Safety
